MY RESOLVE

That year in Senior secondary school, we wrote countless essays on the vision 2020. The blue prints on the vision 2020 especially about Nigeria. Our hopes were as high as Mount Everest , it was as though that was the year the seer said we would get to the supposed promise land.

Like a sour Ijebu garri, the 2020 pandemonium slapped us all on both cheeks making us cringe with tears in our eyes. It came as surprised though it wasn’t for our maker. We didn’t know the vision, 2020 came with was of Covid-19, yet some good visions were fulfilled. The EndSARS movement was a revolutionary move which would have caused a great change but left it’s prints on the memories of all Nigerians, home and abroad. Some said Nigeria itself can cause emotional instability. We had people who enlightened us on emotional health. And Nigerians as usual turned every situations into jokes with savagery comments. Let’s laugh it off as usual.

There’s always something to be grateful for despite the hurdles, some had their breakthrough in between. It was just a light after darkness. We all hope and yearn for more light in this new year.

At the peak of the year, we make resolutions and remain hopeful that we would follow it through. I am not a person that is keen on making resolutions. Last year was an experience packed year, I learnt to trust God only which brought a closer walk with Him. I was vulnerable with him which gave me a sense of openness. I think it also affected my relationship with people because I could get to express myself to people and communicate more which I wouldn’t normally do. I also learnt to be genuinely happy and be happy for people too.

This year I decided to make some intentional decisions from lessons learnt last year. I realise you have to experience some things before you can grow. Experiences birth a lot of greatness. So no shortcuts can bring long lasting success. If you’re not ready for greatness you won’t use it judiciously.

This year I make the resolve to live fully, to be happy fully without hiding it, why hide your joy though, to forgive from my heart, to make new friends, to read and learn more, to seek the Father the more, to pray more, to love more and to be intentional about some important things in my life. My resolve is also not to be in competition with myself or other people, rather to move in a steady pace. To make mistakes and relearn and move. To keep living and believing.

What’s your resolve this year? And how do you intend to achieve it. I want to hear about it.
