‘God forbid’ she reprimanded herself. She would do no such thing, she was attracted to Kola but then she keeps remembering her marital vows and how God hates adultery.
She wouldn’t because of money or an irresponsible husband sin unto God, never. ‘ Who made those vows by the way’, she thought. ‘For richer and poorer, in sickness and health’, none of this has her husband kept, none’. Rather he had made life unbearable and miserable for them and they’ve been wallowing in sorrows which has gone deep into their marrow all this while.
She thanked God for giving her a godly children who weren’t covetous or a thief, they’ve really tried and she plans to surprise them with a treat very soon. ‘Trust the plans I have for you’, a voice said to her. The dialogue within her was halted and she looked up from her bowed head to see if it was her daughters that were talking. ‘Trust my plans,Will you?’,said a voice clearer now, and she was so sure it was the HolySpirit that was speaking to her.
How was she going to know His plans, she’s tired of everything already , what His plans were she wanted to know. Tears fell from her eyes and she shook as she wept. Fiyin was outside while Shola was asleep already.
The ringing of her phone startled her and she started looking for where she dropped the phone. She later found it in her bag but before she picked the call it had been missed. She wanted to check who it was then a call came in again and it turned out to be Kola. He asked how she was and how her daughter’s body was, she explained everything that had happened that afternoon to him and he informed her he was on his way to her house before she could ask why he was coming he hung up the phone on her.
‘You will have to deposit #20,000 so that we can do more test on her, she’s been receiving the treatment but she’s still weak and we need to know what the real problem is’ said the doctor. Dorothy nodded her head absent mindedly as she sat in the room where her daughter was admitted.
They’ve been here for almost two week ever since Kola came to her house and forced her to bring Shola to the hospital. The hospital was Kola’s friends so they were discounted on some bills. At one moment it was as though she was getting well but later on she would be weak and starts vomiting. The food she ate were unable to stay in her stomach. Now they had to deposit more money so that more test could be done. The doctor has said ulcer, but now she wasn’t sure what exactly it was.
Tayo her husband had only come twice to check on their daughter and he gave her #5000, she was even surprised, she couldn’t even remember when last he contributed to the family. ‘Mum’ said Shola weakly as she turned from the bed to face her mum. ‘ Can you please play that Song by Hillsongs’ said Shola. ‘ Which one oh, omo mi’ said Dorothy. ‘Healer’, replied Shola. Dorothy scrolled through her phone and searched for the song. She played it while she and Shola sang along.
She was touched by the song so much she started to weep and pray. ‘Father ,you said the fervent prayer of the righteous avails much and I trust in you, I believe in you, you’re the balm of Gilead,I believe you’re the greatest healer, please Lord heal Shola, heal Shola and I will continue to praise you’ cried Dorothy. As she prayed, she vibrated and wept at the same time.
Shola has never seen her mum so much in sorrow, she knew her heart were in pains and she also cried. ‘Mum, it’s okay, everything will be fine,trust God’s plan,trust Him’ said Shola. Dorothy stopped praying and looked at her daughter in shock, she started to clean her face, she was shocked because that was the same thing the HolySpirit told her weeks ago.
Her heart was at peace and she fully set heart out to trust His plans. She heard a knock on the door of the room and asked the person to come in. It was Kola and she was glad he came, he told her he had been around since and came to the room earlier but found her praying but didn’t want to disturb her so he left . ‘Dorothy, you know you shouldn’t be crying in the presence of your daughter, you have to be strong for her, ehn, I don’t like what you’re doing at all’ , Kola spoke angrily at her. ‘I am sorry, I felt sad and the song I was playing touched my soul that was why’ she replied grumbly.
They both stood and were staring at each other. ‘Thank you so much Uncle Kola,Thank you for everything, I am grateful’ said Shola which made them both break their stares. Kola smiled and touched Shola’s hand and they both smiled at each other. Dorothy walks Kola out of the room and told Shola she would be back.
As they both walk down the hospital corridor kola told her he had paid the #20,000 the doctor said was for a test. He gave her an envelope and said It was from the school management just a contribution to help with the bills.
She was shocked and tears were gathering on her face, she started to thank him and thank the school also. Its been more than a week she’s gone to work and they still thought about her. She knew this was Kola’s handwork.
How could a man be this caring and loving still be single and not married. What could any lady be looking for that they wouldn’t find in him. She wished she was still single, she’d have fallen heads over heels for him. She reprimanded herself for such thought and asked God to forgive her.
Kola told her he had to go and gave her a foodflask he has brought for her. She hugged him and he entered his car and drove off.
