He Proposed Again

With pure love in his eyes, he looked up at me with the puppy love eyes which I for one could never resist. The gold ring was in his hands as he had his knees bent on the grass. Nature took its course to stand still at that time. He asked me the same question he had been asking the umpteenth time, ” will you marry me?” I stared at him trying to hold back the tears threatening to pour.

This was every girls’ dream, to be with the love of their life forever. I can imagine a normal girl would have been screaming and shouting ecstatically. I am not worthy; I don’t deserve him. This wasn’t the first time he’d come to propose his undying love to me. I feel filthy because he is too good to behold a mess like me.

“I can’t do this”, I said to him, withdrawing my hand from his as he held on tightly. ” I am too filled with a lot of mess for you to be with. I can’t be your bride,my heart is tainted,it is not pure”.

He looked up at me on bended knees with plea in his eyes. ” I want the imperfect you,I want us to work on this journey together, let’s make this imperfections perfect”, he said. I nodded in affirmation as he ringed my heart by slipping the ring into my finger. The fear I felt was no more because perfect love casteth out fear.

The kind of love God has for you, ehn, Kai. It is beyond measure. You know, most times we look for that perfect person to spend the rest of our lives with; we want a perfect man to show to the world. But Jesus loves us and, with open arms, wants us to run to him with all our imperfections. He (bridegroom) wants us (bride) imperfect to bring us towards perfection. He wants us with our mess. You don’t have to clean up yourself.

I know you’d be wondering, has he really accepted me with all these mess and filth? Guess what? He has accepted you because He’s intentional about the love he has for you. You are a work in process.
